Founder Bio
Arriving in China in 2012, Marco is a proud South African with more than 20 years of international experience in business and marketing. He is passionate about fostering connections between South Africa and China to create economic opportunities, and for showcasing the beauty and opportunity that China and his country of birth has to offer.
His journey kicked off as a reporter at Die Burger (The Citizen) in Cape Town, where he honed his storytelling skills before expanding into the world of international business. His news commentary related to China has been published in newspapers and platforms such as Netwerk24.com, Business Day, City News Service, Maroela Media, and Die Burger.
Marco obtained his first MBA in the US and went on to earn a second MBA focused on doing Business in China from Shanghai Jiaotong University, a top public university in China. He has served in various leadership roles during the past decade, across the FMCG, automotive, education, and non-profit sectors. He’s experienced at planning strategies and crafting brand messaging that resonates with diverse consumer audiences.
He has traveled extensively throughout China and South-East Asia and possesses a cultural insight and network that enables him to navigate the complexities of this dynamic market.
